Frequently Asked Questions
Can you frame a home I am building myself?
Yes. Custom framing is offered as a standalone service. We frame for homeowners acting as their own general contractor, for contractors who need a reliable crew, and for developers running multiple lots.
What exactly is included in a framing package?
Our framing service is labor: floor systems, exterior and interior walls, roof framing, and sheathing, built on site to your plans. Materials, windows, and exterior doors typically come from the general contractor. If you want the scope drawn differently for your project, tell us and we will price it that way.
Do you build panelized walls, or is everything framed on site?
Most of our work is stick-built on site, which keeps the design flexible right through the build. Our crew can stick-frame roofs as well as set trusses built offsite. On larger projects such as apartments we do panel the walls, which adds preparation time but cuts time on site considerably.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. S&S Homes, Inc. is registered with the Nebraska Department of Labor under registration number 36926-26, and carries liability and workers’ compensation coverage.
How far will you travel for framing work?
We frame throughout Eastern Nebraska, and we will travel farther for framing than we do for our custom home work. If the job makes sense, we will go there. Send us the location and we will tell you.
How far in advance do I need to book your crew?
A few months is realistic. Framing books up fastest heading into the spring and summer building months, so the sooner you get us your plans, the sooner we can hold a spot.
Do you frame commercial buildings, or residential only?
Both.
